Never Fail Long-Cooking White Rice

This cooking process requires your full attention for the first few minutes, then it’s hands-off.

Method: Stovetop, 24 minutes
Yield: 6 cups

Ingredients

  • 1 Tablespoon cooking oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups water
  • 2 cups long-cooking rice
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Directions

  1. ASSEMBLE ingredients near stove top. Turn heat to medium-high. Heat the oil and salt.
  2. QUICKLY add water, rice, and garlic powder.
  3. STIR and cover with lid. Turn heat to high and boil for 2 minutes.
  4. IMMEDIATELY turn heat to low and cook for 22 minutes without disturbing. Do not take lid off during cooking time.
  5. ENJOY!

  • This recipe makes the perfect amount of rice for a batch of Ham Fried Rice.
  • Sometime try white jasmine rice– it smells so yummy as it cooks and tastes delicious.
  • This is a fool-proof method of cooking rice on the stovetop.
