Burger Ingredients
- 1 Tablespoon ground flax seed
- 3 tablespoons water
- 1 can black beans, rinsed
- 1/2 of a medium-size yellow onion, finely grated
- 1/2 cup red pepper, diced
- 1 cup oats, regular or quick
- 2 Tablespoons nutritional yeast
- 2 teaspoons A.1. steak sauce
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Burger Sauce Ingredients
- 3/4 cup mayonnaise
- 2 Tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 Tablespoon worcestershire sauce
- 1 Tablespoon brown sugar
- 3/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 Tablespoon chives, finely cut
Burger Instructions
- MEASURE the flax seed and water in a small bowl, stir and set aside
- ADD the beans to a large bowl. Mash most of the beans with a fork or pastry blender
- ADD onion, red pepper, oats, nutritional yeast, salt, pepper, garlic powder and A.1. to the bowl
- SCRAPE the flax seed and water mixture in to the bean mixture with a rubber spatula
- COMBINE all ingredients with a rubber spatula
- FORM into 4 patties on a sheet pan. Cover with plastic wrap and set aside until ready to cook
- COOK on a preheated non-stick pan or griddle for 4 minutes per side
Sauce Instructions
- COMBINE all ingredients in a small bowl using a whisk
- REFRIGERATE until ready to serve
